Ocasio-Cortez, enfant cherie de la gauche? Peut-etre un peu trop "out there" tout-de-meme pour les elections de 2020
Ocasio-Cortez’ Green New Deal Includes Getting Rid of Airplanes; Hawaii Democrat Fires Back BY JOHN FRIZOLI LATEST FEBRUARY 07, 2019 Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) officially released her Green New Deal on Thursday, and it’s far more extreme than most people probably could have imagined.
One of her plans, in particular, got a laugh of disbelief from a Democratic senator. According to Fox News, the plan seeks to pour taxpayer money into developing high-speed rail “at a scale where air travel stops becoming necessary.”
An accompanying FAQ from Ocasio-Cortez' office makes that a little clearer when it notes that the resolution's lofty goal of reaching net-zero emissions in 10 years in the U.S. is more realistic than aiming for zero emissions “because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast.”
...
Pelosi probably realizes what political fodder this will be in the hands of Republicans wanting to topple Democrats in 2020. The campaign ads are easy to envision. “Want to get rid of beef? Want to end air travel? Want people paid to not work? Want to have your house torn down by the government because it’s not green enough? Want to pay for it all? Vote Democrat!”

Union leaders warn Green New Deal may lead to poverty: 'Members are worried about putting food on the table'
California to pull plug on billion-dollar bullet train, cites ballooning costs (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez "AOC" prefere des trains a grande vitesse aux avions)
Aussi: What’s actually in the ‘Green New Deal’ from Democrats?
Le dernier paragraphe est assez rigolo
"The Bottom Line:
Trump is misrepresenting the Green New Deal as the plan is currently written. The resolution in Congress is full of sweeping ambition and grand goals, but it’s also vaguer and more moderate than he says. There’s nothing in there about putting an end to cars or cows or air travel or the military.
It’s also misleading for Ocasio-Cortez to mention “doctored” materials as she responds to these attacks. Most of the criticism she is responding to was based on documents from her office, not on fake plans for “recycling urine.”
There’s a case to be made that the criticism about ending airplanes and cows was a stretch to begin with, since the resolution didn’t mention any of that and the FAQs were not definitive on those points. But Ocasio-Cortez has now disowned the FAQs and the statements that went beyond the resolution. The line about providing for people “unwilling to work” has been walked back completely. So we won’t be awarding any Pinocchios in this kerfuffle.
-----
McConnell wields Green New Deal as bludgeon against Dems

C'est d'ailleurs de la que vient l'expression: "Not to even have a pot to piss in" (etre vraiment tres tres pauvre, n'ayant meme pas un pot)
C'est marrant j'ai lu ca tres recemment.
La facon des Verts to "Make America Great Again"!

un petit micro-trottoir:
=====
- Paris, France / Moscou, Russie: a peu pres 2500kms
- New York, N.Y. / Denver, Colorado: a peu pres 2600kms
(Donc distances, a vol d'oiseau, comparables)

Tucker Carlson: There was no Russian collusion -- It was all fake. It's negligence on a stunning scale
We have news for you, breaking news, that for whatever reason is being downplayed or ignored by other media outlets, but we think you want to know about it. Five simple words describe it, there was no Russian collusion. There is no evidence whatsoever that the Trump campaign conspired in any way with the government of Vladimir Putin during the last presidential election.
That is apparently the conclusion of the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee. That Committee spent two years investigating this question. Of course, hundreds of interviews, reams of classified documents, untold millions in taxpayer dollars. No collusion at all. That is what we are hearing on Tuesday evening that they have found.
==========
Toutefois: House Democrats planning expansive Trump probes, even after Mueller report
No matter when and how Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe ends, House Democrats are planning to aggressively ramp up their own Trump-related investigationsthat will include a network of committees and high-profile public hearings likely to last well into the 2020 election year.
It is unclear at this point when the special counsel’s investigation into Russian meddlingand potential collusion with Trump campaign associates will be complete, though several officials have said the probe is nearing its end.
But the Mueller report will not mark the end of Russia investigations. House Democrats have ramped up their own efforts to investigate the president on matters related to Russia, his personal finances, his relationships and communications with foreign officials, and more.
The House Financial Services Committee, led by Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., is the latest panel to join in on the investigations. Axios reported Wednesday that the committee will coordinate with the House Intelligence Committee on money-laundering inquiries -- while the House Foreign Affairs Committee is also involved.
The details emerged after House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., already announced a sweeping new probe into the president’s foreign business dealings and Russian election meddling.

Amazon pulls out of plan to build New York City headquarters after backlash
...
"For Amazon, the commitment to build a new headquarters requires positive, collaborative relationships with state and local elected officials who will be supportive over the long-term. While polls show that 70% of New Yorkers support our plans and investment, a number of state and local politicians have made it clear that they oppose our presence and will not work with us to build the type of relationships that are required to go forward with the project we and many others envisioned in Long Island City," the statement reads.

Ocasio-Cortez tweeted that "anything is possible," taking a victory lap upon hearing the news.

Bankrate.com's senior economic analyst Mark Hamrick called it a "stunning development," adding: "For those who didn’t want Amazon to bring the promised 25,000 new jobs and added economic vitality to the area: Be careful what you wish for."

Cuomo slams Ocasio-Cortez, others, as Amazon ditches New York

French braced for the end of the world
Decades after French philosophers stopped fretting over existence, the thinking classes have embraced a new fad: the end of the world.
Cited by converts from President Macron to pop singers and yellow-vest protesters, the doctrine of imminent apocalypse goes under the unlikely franglais name la collapsologie.
State officials have attended a new university master’s course in the Paris outskirts on the “risk of collapse and adapting to it”, while Facebook is awash with groups, including a popular one called: “Adoptez un collapso: let’s meet before the end of the world.”

McCabe Walks Back His Outrageous 25th Amendment Claim After Uproar
Fired FBI deputy director's explosive allegation about plot to remove Trump from office has created a firestorm
By Kathryn Blackhurst | February 15, 2019
Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe — who was fired — is now walking back his explosive claim that Department of Justice (DOJ) officials met to discuss how to remove President Donald Trump from office using the 25th Amendment.
Excerpts from McCabe’s upcoming interview on CBS News’ “60 Minutes” dropped on Thursday.
...
CBS News’ Scott Pelley said Thursday on “CBS This Morning” that McCabe insisted there “were meetings at the Justice Department at which it was discussed whether the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet could be brought together to remove the president of the United States under the 25th Amendment.”
The “highest levels of American law enforcement were trying to figure out what do with the president” in the days between Comey’s firing and Mueller’s appointment, Pelley said.
After these claims caused an uproar on social media, McCabe scaled them back through a statement from his spokeswoman, Melissa Schwartz, on Friday.
“Certain statements made by Mr. McCabe, in interviews associated with the release of his book, have been taken out of context and misrepresented,” the statement read.
“To clarify, at no time did Mr. McCabe participate in any extended discussions about the use of the 25th Amendment, nor is he aware of any such discussions.”
The spokeswoman did note that McCabe “was present and participated in a discussion that included a comment by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein regarding the 25th Amendment.”
“This anecdote was not included in ‘The Threat,’ Mr. McCabe merely confirmed a discussion that was initially reported elsewhere,” the spokeswoman also said.
Rosenstein floated the idea of wearing a wire while interacting with Trump, The New York Times reported in September. But Rosenstein denied the claim and insisted it had been said in jest.
Yet Pelley said McCabe disputed Rosenstein’s account of the wire claim.
Pelley indicated McCabe had said the topic “came up more than once and it was so serious that he took it to the lawyers at the FBI to discuss it.”
Rosenstein once again on Thursday denied the claim through a spokesperson.
“As to the specific portions of this interview provided to the Department of Justice by ’60 Minutes’ in advance, the deputy attorney general again rejects Mr. McCabe’s recitation of events as inaccurate and factually incorrect,” the statement read, according to CNN.

Fuller video casts new light on Covington Catholic students' encounter with Native American elder
Jussie Smollett's lawyers deny he planned attack after Chicago police claim he's no longer considered a victim in case

Eddie: Basket of deplorables
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[ltr]"Basket of deplorables" is a phrase from a 2016 presidential election campaign speech delivered by Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton on September 9, 2016, at a campaign fundraising event, which Clinton used to describe half of the supporters of her general election opponent, Republican nominee Donald Trump. Clinton later said that she "regrets saying half [of Trump's supporters]", and the Trump campaign repeatedly used the phrase against her during and after the 2016 presidential election. Many Trump supporters adopted the "Deplorable" moniker for themselves. After Clinton's loss, some journalists and political analysts questioned whether the speech played a role in the election's outcome; Clinton herself wrote in her book What Happened that it was one of the factors for her loss.[/ltr]
==========

Ocasio-Cortez raises eyebrows after comparing Trump's border wall to Berlin Wall
...
“No matter how you feel about the wall, I think it’s a moral abomination,” Ocasio-Cortez said on the issue of the border wall that Trump has been pushing for since getting into office.
“I think it’s like the Berlin Wall. I think it’s like any other wall designed to separate human beings and block out people who are running away from the humanitarian disasters. I just think it’s wrong,” she added.
...
“Dear @AOC: Let me serve as your private professor here. The Berlin Wall was meant to keep people inside the socialist/communist utopia and stop them from fleeing to the decadent capitalist west. So as the New Millennial Lenin, you might want to refrain from using this example,” Gad Saad, an evolutionary behavioral scientist at the John Molson School of Business, tweeted.
